Life in Jumilla

Jumilla is a full-service town with a health centre, schools, supermarkets, a weekly market, sports facilities and plenty of bars and restaurants. Its old quarter sits below a 15th-century castle, which gives wide views over the vineyards, and the town has a strong tradition of festivals, including its Easter processions and the Fiesta de la Vendimia, the grape harvest festival held every August.

Wine is the heart of local life. The DO Jumilla is famous for its Monastrell red wines, and dozens of bodegas, from family cellars to well-known producers, open their doors for tours and tastings.

The countryside and the property market

The Jumilla countryside is wide and open, with vineyards, almond and olive groves, and mountains such as the Sierra del Carche, a protected regional park, rising above the plain. It suits buyers looking for space, privacy, agricultural land or a vineyard of their own.

Based on the listings on our site, plots of land in Jumilla start at around €14,000, with a typical plot priced at about €28,000. Country houses and fincas start from about €40,000, with a typical price of around €150,000, and larger farms and commercial wine properties sell for considerably more.

Water, electricity and access

Many rural properties around Jumilla use wells, water deposits or irrigation rights, and some run on solar power. For agricultural land, the water supply is as important as the land itself, so always check what water comes with the property and that any well is legalised.
